Three hundred years old, and family owned for the last five years, the Durham Ox has enjoyed several recent accolades. Named as one of six top country pubs with good food and accommodation by the Times and awarded the title of "glorious gastropub" in the latest edition of The Which? Guide to Good Hotels.

We have variouse rooms including Luxury Suites that consist of two large bedrooms (one double, one twin) Jacuzzi bathroom, lounge & galley kitchen. Suitable for four guests but may also be reserved as luxury room for two. The Junior Suites consist of a double room with en suite bathroom and snug seating area, suitable for two people.  The ‘Generals’ Quarters is a double room, adjacent twin bedroom, with bathroom; ideal for families as this is our only room in house. Suitable for four guests but may be reserved for two.

We are situated in the historic village of Crayke, with breathtaking views over the vale of York on three sides, and a charming view up the hill to the medieval Church. Crayke is less than 20 minutes from York City Centre, and in the heart of Herriot Country. We are well placed for visits to Castle Howard, the walled gardens at Scampston, Byland Abbey and other stately homes and historic sites.
